Solar-equipped households can purchase an energy storage system with up to HUF 2.5 million in government support.
This is one of the key pillars of energy supply security.

Eligibility conditions:
The applicant must
already have a solar PV system installed, or
install a solar PV system together with the application.
🔋 Why is it the right time to act now?
🟩 Total budget: HUF 100 billion allocated for residential energy storage — those who miss out will fall behind.
🟩 Available support: Up to HUF 2.5 million for purchasing home energy storage systems.
🟩 Support intensity: 80% — an opportunity like this rarely comes along.
All costs related to the purchase and installation of the storage system are eligible, including:
purchase of the battery energy storage system,
inverter procurement,
design and permitting,
metering point standardization,
application and administrative costs,
phase expansion.
🟩 Priority is given to applicants who are under gross metering, those who will exit the net metering (szaldó) scheme by 2030, and residents of settlements with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
🛡️ What type of energy storage system is eligible under the subsidy?
- At least 10 kWh capacity (with an allowable technical tolerance of up to 10%), with no maximum capacity limit.
- In the case of replacing an existing inverter, a technical tolerance of up to 20%, but maximum 1 kVA deviation, is allowed.
- When installing a new solar PV system, the inverter’s maximum power may be 5 kW, and the total capacity of the new solar panels may be up to 120% of the inverter’s rated power.
